Financial close review
A structured review of the month-end or year-end close package, with written findings for finance leadership.
Who this is for
Group controllers, CFOs, and finance directors at Hong Kong companies who need an independent pass over the financial close before statutory auditors begin fieldwork. Typical clients manage multiple entities, HKD or multi-currency books, and a compressed close window.
Result you receive
A written close-review memo covering material findings, open items, and recommended adjustments, plus a live briefing with your finance leads. The goal is a cleaner pack for the audit committee and fewer last-minute surprises during external audit.
Scope included
- Walkthrough of your close calendar and key account owners
- Review of trial balance and significant account reconciliations
- Sampling of revenue cut-offs, accrued expenses, and inventory or WIP where material
- Intercompany balance testing for group reporting entities
- Documentation of control observations tied to the close process
- Findings memo and management briefing
Scope excluded
- Full statutory audit opinion or assurance report
- Bookkeeping or journal posting on your behalf
- Tax filing preparation
- Ongoing monthly controllership retainer (available as a separate discussion)
Provider and process
Reviews are led by a senior close reviewer with Hong Kong financial reporting experience, supported by an associate for sampling and schedule tie-outs. Work begins with a scope call, continues through working-paper intake, and ends with the findings briefing — usually scheduled before your external auditors arrive.
Duration and location
Most single-entity closes take three to five working days. Multi-entity groups with inventory or complex revenue often need six to eight days. We can work on-site at your office in Hong Kong or hybrid with secure file exchange. Our base is Infinitus Plaza in Sheung Wan.
Preparation
Please have ready: latest trial balances, bank and key account reconciliations, revenue and purchase cut-off listings, accrual schedules, and prior-period audit adjusting entries. A named contact for each major account speeds the review.
Pricing basis
Fees are quoted as a fixed engagement fee based on entity count, balance-sheet complexity, and whether the review is month-end or year-end. See Rates for starting ranges.
